Cardi B welcomes baby girl Kulture Kiari with Offset

Cardi and Offset's daughter is named after Offset, whose given name is Kiari Cephus. The rapper first revealed she was pregnant in April. She later confirmed that she had secretly married Offset last year.

Cardi B has had an undeniable cultural impact over the last year, and now, she’s given birth to a daughter named Kulture.

“Kulture Kiari Cephus 07/10/18,” posted Cardi, 25, on Instagram Wednesday, sharing an au naturel picture from a maternity photoshoot and tagging her husband, Offset, from the group Migos.

The baby, born Tuesday, is partially named for her father. Offset’s given name is Kiari Cephus. Migos’ 2017 album is also titled “Culture,” albeit with a “C.” (“Culture II” was released in January.)

Months before the baby was born, Cardi said that Offset, 26, had picked the name.

Cardi’s given name is Belcalis Almanzar. This is her first child and Offset’s fourth.

On Twitter, Kulture’s name quickly rose to the top of the trends. Some fans wondered why the baby’s name didn’t start with a “B” — Cardi’s preferred consonant — and made comparisons to the Kardashian family’s penchant for “K” names. Others celebrated the baby news with the meme of a cheeky Cardi at 5 years old that has been circulating over the past few weeks.

After dodging pregnancy rumors for months, the rapper from the Bronx, whose maternity photo brings to mind Beyonce’s (slightly more clothed), but similarly floral pregnancy announcement last year, officially announced she was expecting in April by wearing a form-fitting dress during a performance on “Saturday Night Live.” The set marked the release of her first album, “Invasion of Privacy,” which debuted atop the Billboard 200.

The rapper is an open book on social media, where she commands an audience of millions, having unwrapped baby gifts and shared video clips from her daily life with adoring fans. But in June, Cardi confirmed a TMZ report that she had secretly gotten married to Offset in September of 2017, despite a public proposal at a Philadelphia concert in October.

Cardi, who has a home in Edgewater, just reached a career milestone with the success of her song “I Like It,” becoming the first female rapper to see two songs hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The social media star, a former stripper and cast member on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” broke into the mainstream as an artist with the song “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” which topped the chart in October 2017.

Cardi B and Offset’s latest musical collaboration is on Lil Yachty’s “Who Want the Smoke,” a single released on July 6, just before the baby’s birth.
