NBA trade rumors: Warriors ready for Knicks to steal Kevin Durant?

The Golden State Warriors seem resigned to the idea of Kevin Durant leaving for the Knicks this coming summer.

Buckle up, Knicks fans. The next few months is going to be a roller coaster ride.

As every die-hard NBA fan in the world watches in anticipation of what the Knicks newest plan will yield, all eyes will be on Kevin Durant‘s next few months in Golden State. As one of the all-time greats guns for another title, his long-term future is in major question.

According to Marc Stein of The New York Times, even Golden State officials are wondering about Durant-to-the-Knicks rumors.

The threat of the Knicks’ persuading Durant to leave one of the most dominant teams in league history has never felt more real to the Warriors themselves.

Latest NBA trade rumors

If Durant decides to bolt a dynasty that he helped further, the Knicks loom as the most fascinating fit in the league.

With Kristaps Porzingis off the books, the Knicks can tank to a top-three pick and have two max cap spaces for this summer. Would, say, Durant and Kyrie Irving (plus the No. 1 overall pick) be enough to turn New York into an instant contender? It’s certainly possible, and could be the story of the 2019-2020 season in the NBA.

Durant, 30, is averaging 27.5 points per game for the Warriors this season. The nine-time all-star and two-time NBA Finals MVP could be ready for the third stage of his career, and that could take place in Madison Square Garden as early as next fall.
