UEFA round up: Tottenham rolls, while Arsenal is stunned in Belarus

Had a goal and an assist to go along with a clean sheet, as the Spurs all but finished the tie with Dortmund.

It was a mixed week for the English sides in Europe, while the three-time running Champions League winners continue to find ways to win in the competition.

Real Madrid got a late goal from Marco Asensio to beat Ajax 2-1, despite the Dutch side controlling much of the action. In the other Wednesday game, Tottenham rolled past Dortmund, to all but end the tie after the first leg.

It came on the heels of Tuesday’s poor result for Premier League side Manchester United, which saw two injuries derail a promising first half performance. Once the two pacy wingers, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial, were forced off at halftime and replaced by Juan Mata and Alexis Sanchez, the tide turned for the French champions, led by Kylian Mbappe.

In Europa League action, Chelsea got a 2-1 win on the road at Malmo to take control of the two-legged affair.

But it was a shock result in Belarus which made the headlines. Arsenal found a way to lose 1-0 to BATE Borisov, with Alexandre Lacazette now out for the second leg after his straight red card late in the contest.

The next four ties of the Champions League round of 16 will take to the pitches next Tuesday and Wednesday, with the second legs of the Europa League round of 32 ties will conclude Thursday.

Can Arsenal find a way to overturn the deficit at the Emirates?
