The listing says the home has "every amenity imaginable."
A Wall Street billionaire, who President Donald Trump once nominated to be the secretary of the Army, put his custom-built Chatham home that has “every amenity imaginable” back on the market for $ 3.2 million earlier this month, according to its Trulia listing.
Vincent Viola, who also owns the Florida Panthers, and his wife, Teresa, whose company, Maida Vale Designs, did the interior designing of the home, first listed the five-bedroom, nine-bathroom home in November 2017.
According to property records, the Violas bought the property for $ 195,000 in 1990. Barbara Veeder, the listing agent, said the couple never lived in the home. She said a family member lived in the previous home that was on the property before it was knocked down to build this home in 2017.
It is not totally an exaggeration when the listing states the home has every amenity you could think of.
Inside the home, which has a limestone exterior, the highlight may be the professional-style kitchen, which has a commercial stove, two double refrigerators, three sinks, concrete counters, a deep fryer and, apparently, “the only wood/gas pizza oven in town,” according to the listing.
The master bedroom has a large bathroom, a walk-in closet that is “fit for royalty,” and a Juliet balcony overlooking the nearly one acre of land the home sits on.
Other highlights of the home include: three additional bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a fifth bedroom with a kitchenette, a finished recreation room with a wet bar, a 325-bottle wine cellar, four fireplaces and a 16-camera online security system that is controlled by a tablet.
And the amenities don’t stop when you head outside, where there is a saltwater pool, an outdoor fireplace, a TV, a pergola, and a heated driveway and garage.
After the home was built in 2017, the property was assessed for nearly $ 2.5 million, according to Zillow. Property taxes are $ 44,475.
It may not be too surprising that the Violas never lived in the home themselves, considering they also own an Upper East Side mansion that was recently relisted for $ 88 million. (It was once listed for $ 114 million.)
Vincent Viola grew his fortune on the floors of the New York Mercantile Exchange, where he eventually became the chairman. In 2008, he founded the trading firm Virtu Financial, which went public in 2015.
Trump nominated Viola, who is an Army veteran, to be the secretary of Army more than a month before the presidential inauguration, but Viola withdrew from consideration in February 2017, “citing his inability to get around strict Defense Department rules concerning his family businesses,” according to the Military Times.
Viola became the owner of the Florida Panthers in 2013.
